The Hornets announced a slew of new logos as well as new uniforms for the 08-09 season and beyond today, in what they are calling a "Rebirth of a Brand." The jerseys are intended to "better represent New Orleans passion, heritage and future." This is certainly seen within their new logo which incorporates a hornet into a common New Orleans symbol, the fleur-de-lis. This I'm a big fan of. I think that the old bug-eyed, big-shoed hornet was getting a bit dated, so it is nice to have a modern iteration of that. The actual jersey design itself, to me, was nothing too exciting. Sure, they look nice, they look clean, but more than anything they look like a mixture between their current jerseys and a return back to their pinstriped Charlotte days. Instead of one jersey displaying the word 'Hornets', both the home and away jerseys will say 'New Orleans'. I'm also really hoping that they keep the yellow alternates, as those were one of my favorite uniforms in the league. Then again, I'm a graduate of U of Oregon, so I'm used to electric yellow jerseys! So who can tell me the one other team in the league that uses their city name for both home and away jerseys? What do you think of these new unis?

Hornets get new logos and uniforms

That is a tight new logo, especially because they bring New Orleans culture into the design. I would agree about their alternative jerseys. I've always been a fan of the alternative yellow jerseys since teams started showing them off in more recent years. Overall I give the Hornets an A on their re-do as opposed to the T-Wolves whom I give an F, they kinda screwed up big time on that one. Also...the suns need to step up and drop their crappy unis right now and bring back a black alternate jersey and scrap the orange, now's the time too, they have a new coach and for the first time since Nash has been their a true pg to back him up, even if he's young and from Europe. And they host the all-star game this year, if any team needs a change it's Phoenix. Too bad they aren't allowed to move any franchise of choice to Europe, San Antonio anyone? love the right ups stu "big durty" holdren...Lets do a podcast soon.
I actually liked the T'Wolves unis, and "liked" the new Hornets unis as well. I think what always excites me is a more dramatic change, and since the Hornets change wasn't too dramatic, I wasn't too hyped about it. They are fine though! The Suns seem do have gone through their fair share of jersey iterations in the last few years, they need to settle on something and roll with it!
